This purple prickly pear cactus is a great addition to drought tolerant, hillside and xeriscape gardens. Full sun to half day sun is ideal with well drained soil. Blue green ovate pads will turn purple in extreme weather bearing small white hair like thorns. Medium sized magenta pink flowers appear in Spring attracting bees, butterflies and birds. Drought tolerant, be sure not to over water in Winter. Frost hardy and fire resistant. Great container plant.
